Ever
watched a burlesque show and thought “Wow! That looks like
fun, I’d love to do that!” Well, now you can learn
to strut your stuff in a sexy and lighthearted class atmosphere. Learn
the basics of burlesque performance and get in shape while shimmying
and shaking your way through fun dance routines!
Classes
are booked in six-week
sessions, introductory three-week sessions, and occasional specially
scheduled workshops.
These are not "strip in your bedroom" classes. You will gain confidence
in yourself and in your body image, and since you will have many
opportunities to perform, you can decide for yourself when and if you
are ready. You will also be able to participate in the development of
your fellow-students' numbers!
Invented by Bombshell Betty, Burlesquercise!
has been going strong for four years and has grown into a
dynamic and supportive community. I have created a Burlesquercise!
Group at Yahoo as a resource for
current and past students, organize outings to local shows, and host
small get-togethers to help students get to know each other and develop
a support system within the local performance community. Come be part of an ever-growing community of local
women who share your interests and your lust for life!

But what is Burlesquercise?
Each class starts with a
bump-n-grind warmup, followed by a burlesque-inspired workout. The
workout is either Bombshell Betty's signature Bump and Grind Warmup
followed by the Pinup Floor Work (as demonstrated in the "Intro
to
Burlesquercise" DVD) or it
is inspired by the special theme for the series. Burlesquercise is a
really great workout! After the warmup and workout, we proceed to
learning specific burlesque
dance moves, performance techniques and stage persona building exercises -
each class in the series will be different. Then we move on to learning
the featured burlesque routines for this series.
All of the routines
taught in Burlesquercise are performed at shows around the SF Bay Area.
If you're interested in performing with the Burlesqueteers,
all you
have to do is attend classes to learn the techniques and choreography, and then sign up
when a show is coming up, get your costuming together (this is usually
very easy and inexpensive), come to the rehearsals, and you're in! It's
a very inclusive group open to anyone who has taken the classes.

"Burlesque Summer-Camp" Series!
Summertime is coming, so it's time for Burlesque Summer Camp!
This session, we'll be having fun with the burlesque-style syncronized swimming workout without a pool! Plus learn two brand new Burlesquercise routines which will be performed at upcoming shows around the Bay Area, performed to Heat Wave by Marilyn Monroe and Too Darn Hot from Kiss Me Kate. So throw on your retro bathing suit, grab a beach towel and some sunglasses, and let's play!
But don't forget your Burlesque Summer Camp homework! We'll also be going over the basics every girl needs to get started in the world of burlesque. Whether you're just starting out or you've been performing for a while, you'll learn the next steps you need to take to go from "wanna-be" to "gotta-see" - from stage names to getting gigs to getting publicity! You won't want to miss this!

Burlesquercise Choreography Series
In this special burlesque choreography session, we will be focusing entirely on the choreography for some of the favorite Burlesquercise numbers from the last 4 years of classes! Get caught up and ready to perform the steps for Take Back Your Mink from Guys and Dolls, our chair dance to Feeling Good by Nina Simone, and our version of Manamana. That's a lot of dancing!
All students who learn the Burlesquercise choreography are invited to perform with the Burlesqueteers, so come join the fun!

"Intro to Burlesquercise" Mini-Session
Been
looking for a sexy workout or just want more excitement in your
life? Come join in on the fun with this special introductory
series. In addition to the unique bump-and-grind warmup and workout
that Burlesquercise is famous for, we will take you through some of the
best lessons and activities from the last three years of classes,
including bump-and-grind basics, the burlesque strut, song
interpretation, prop use and more! You'll also learn the choreograpy
for the dance numbers most often performed by "Bombshell Betty's
Burlesqueteers," so pull your favorite lingerie out of hiding in the
top drawer and let's shake it... with Burlesquercise!

Classes
Can’t
commit
to the whole enchilada? Wanna find out what all the fuss is about
before signing up for a full series? At this time, Bombshell Betty
Dance is not offering any drop-in classes, and pre-registration is
required for all classes and workshops. To allow students to try out
the classes with minimal commitment, we regularly offer an
"Intro to Burlesquercise" 3-class mini session which covers the basics
of burlesque dance plus fun group choreography! These classes are
listed in the table above.
