ALL LEVELS OF FLEXIBILITY AND DANCE EXPERIENCE WELCOME!

Bombshell Betty Dance has teamed up with local dancing diva, Lauri Costigan, a former choreographer and dancer for San Francisco’s own Le Cancan Bijou, to present a one-of-a-kind
Cancan Dancing and Flexibility Workshop. Starting off with a ballet warmup specially modified for cancan dancing, we will then progress into traditional cancan kicks and poses, traveling steps and stationary moves, kick lines, petticoat manipulation and the art of flirting.

Bring a petticoat or full skirt, if you have one, and be sure to wear low, comfortable heels you’ll feel be able to hop, kick and dance in!

About the Instructor

Lauri Costigan (known on the local burlesque stage as Ophelia Coeur de Noir) is a San Francisco based performer, director and teacher with over 25 years of dance training and performance experience. She has performed on stages from San Francisco to New York to Australia.

A classically trained ballet dancer, her extensive dance training also includes jazz, tap, hiphop, and Hawaiian dance. Lauri specializes in dance from the 1920’s - 1960’s, including swing, Charleston, cancan, and burlesque. She has also studied various forms of social dance from the Renaissance and Victorian eras, commedia dell’arte, singing, music, stage combat and theatrical sword-fighting.

Lauri has spent the past several years teaching and performing in the Bay Area. She works with actors and dancers of all levels. Lauri is available for directing commissions, dance and stage choreography and private actor coaching. She holds a BA in acting from the Theater Arts Department at San Francisco State University and a secondary teaching credential from Notre Dame de Namur University.



Registration

RATES: $30 for general enrollment (or $25 for Burlesquercisers). Space is limited, so pre-registration is recommended. Day of enrollment will be accepted on a space-available, first come first served basis. To guarantee your spot, sign up today!
