Get in shape with Cancan Dancing!
Each Cardio-Cancan class starts with a ballet based warmup and stretching. Then we go over specific steps and techniques for cancan kick lines, traveling steps and turns. Finally, get your heart pumping with flirty cancan choreography! It's so much fun, you won't even realize you are working out!
ALL LEVELS OF FLEXIBILITY AND DANCE EXPERIENCE WELCOME! This class has been designed to provide an introduction to classic ballet techniques in a comfortable environment for those who have never taken formal dance classes before. At the same time, experienced dancers will enjoy the sense of play, enjoyment and sensuality in the class, which can be hard to find in many traditional ballet studios.
For this class, you will want to bring a petticoat or full skirt, if you have one, and be sure to wear flat dance shoes you’ll feel be able to hop, kick and dance in, rather than heels!
All students in Cardio-Cancan classes are eligible to perform at Bombshell Betty shows around the Bay Area!
March 11 - May 6, 2013
NOTE: No class on April 1!
May 14 at the Elbo Room in San Francisco
Red Velvet, a life-long dancer, began studying dance at the age of 2! A prolific performer with extensive training in tap, ballet, and jazz, Red Velvet continues to study forms of dance such as samba and flamenco. Ms. Velvet began intensively studying Isadora Duncan dance in 1999, and began studying burlesque in 2008 with Bombshell Betty. Since then, she has been an integral part of the Bombshell Betty shows in the Bay Area and beyond, and has choreographed and taught several burlesque chorus choreographies for Bombshell Betty's Burlesqueteers!
Ms. Velvet has performed extensively in musical theatre, has studied and performed dance throughout California and New York, and has toured internationally. She has taught dance to adults and children, including training and teaching children to perform in professional musical theatre events.
Red Velvet can frequently be seen performing solo work at the Elbo Room in San Francisco or the Hubba Hubba Review at the Uptown in Oakland, as well as with the bands Fromagique and Los Shimmy Shakers, and at many shows around the Bay Area.
